Technician Gets Life Back On The Rails

| Read Our Blog Read Our Blog Blog Technician “Gets Life Back” on the Rails Emily Mason November 21, 2016 Non-profit, Training, Workforce 0 After working within the auto trade for greater than a decade, Jason Ratcliff determined to transition to work within the railroad business. He successfully discovered work he enjoyed as a truck technician, however after a 12 months in his new field personal obstacles compelled him to leave his job within the rail trade, leaving him frustrated and struggling to restart his profession. Jason came to National Able Network in search of job training to assist him get to work as a truck driver. He started working with Career Coach Cheryl Travis, who helped him enroll in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program and attend training to get his Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Jason appreciated Cheryl’s hands-on work with him: “[She] was optimistic about my job prospects and future, she had an actual reference to me.” Jason stated he worked exhausti ng to get his CDL and brush up his job search skills, and Cheryl was there to offer advice and encouragement. Jason successfully completed his coaching and received his CDL. Jason was in search of new employment, however was shocked when he was contacted by his earlier employer. They requested him to return to his old job on the rails, and thanks to his CDL license they supplied him a significant raise! Jason is now again at work as a truck technician within the rail industry, and is pleased to be doing work that he loves. When asked what advice he had for different job seekers, he said “Never get discouraged, be optimistic and keep refreshed.” Jason was so grateful for Cheryl’s assist and confidence in his skills, and the help he acquired at National Able Network: “National Able Network helped me get my life back.” Congratulations Jason!
